Community
The Group continues to support local communities through
donations of funds, equipment and materials and through
outreach activities. During the year 2012 some key activities
are:
Visit to Child Cancer Patients and Donation of
Seating to SGH:
Our employees visited children who were
undergoing cancer treatment at Sarawak General Hospital,
Kuching, and donated 10 units of 4-seater link chairs to the
hospital.
Sponsorship of Sarawak Taekwondo Association:
We continued our ongoing sponsorship of the Sarawak
Taekwondo Association, to help develop their capability
and realise their vision to become world beaters, with a
contribution of RM100,000.
Donation of Hearse to Lundu Muslim Community and
Miri Divisional Mosque:
To enable the Muslim community
to cope better with bereavement, and to manage funeral
arrangements more effectively and with greater dignity, we
donated hearse vehicles to the Lembaga Kebajikan Amanah
Islam Lundu and Masjid at-Taqwa Miri.
Donation of Ambulance to Lawas Hospital:
We donated
a fully-equipped ambulance vehicle to Lawas District
Hospital, which provides medical services for many remote
communities in Northeast Sarawak.
Sponsorship of Bintulu Orphanage:
We continued to
support PeryatimBintulu by donating the sumof RM200,000
towards the construction of the Peryatim Bintulu Complex.
Located at Lot 5478/7037, Block 31, Kemena Land District,
Kpg Jepak, the complex can accommodate approximately
200 students and is expected to be completed by end of
2013.
Marketplace
SPB recognises its obligations to act ethically and responsibly
in the marketplace. The Group ensures transparency and
adheres to good corporate governance practices. SPB’s
corporate website provides easy access to information on
the Group’s financial position and operations and enables
communication with the Group.
In addition, appropriate policies and procedures are in
place to ensure that business and operational activities are
executed within the expected guidelines and requirements
of business conducts and ethics.
