5 years FFB production and yield by region
Mature Areas
During 2014, there was a decrease of 176 Wha in
mature areas mainly due to replanting progress at
Kosa Estate and Subis 3 Estate, partially offset by
declaration of mature areas during the year.
FFB Production and Yield
For the year 2014, the Group produced a total of
289,076 mt of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), most of
which were processed by our own palm oil mills at
Niah and Mukah. This represented a decrease of
6.5% compared to 2013.
Lower FFB production was mainly due to 2014 being
a low cropping year coupled with replanting activities.
Partial of Mukah 1 Estate were encumbered during
the year, which also contributed to the decrease in
production.
The Group achieved a yield of 11.60 mt/ha for the
year 2014.
Two principal factors caused the low FFB yield of the
Group compared to industry: the inability to harvest
from 1,855 ha at SP Suai due to a dispute with
local participants; and local encumbrances at a
few of our estates in the Central Region affecting
approximately 6,824 ha. Active steps are being
taken with the ultimate objective of resolving the
disputes.
Estate Mechanisation
The labour shortage is still a perennial issue for the
industry. In order to mitigate the labour shortage, The
estates have over the years made improvements
by upgrading their infrastructure to cater for
mechanisation.
The Group has intensified mechanisation in the
following activities:
n
Infield FFB Collection
n
Mainline Transport
n
Fertiliser Application
n
Weedicide Spraying
