Annual Report 2014
Human Resource
Continuous Competency Improvement
The Group is fully committed to the training and
development of its workforce. In 2014, the focus
was on building the technical competencies in the
operations.
For the palm oil mills, awareness programmes on
environment and quality management systems were
carried out in order to garner employee coorperation
with respect to adherence to guidelines and policies
and achievement of full compliance therewith.
For the estates, the focus was on exposing employees
to new technologies and adopting new initiatives to
enhance productivity.
Building the Future
The Sarawak Plantation Training Centre (SPTC) plays
a very important role in providing quality training
in the field of oil palm plantation management and
will go a long way towards developing the Group’s
human resource talent pool.
It is the keystone of the Group’s corporate social
responsibility initiative and provides the opportunity
for secondary school leavers from the various
ethnic groups especially in rural areas, to build a
meaningful career in the plantation industry.
2014 marked a historic milestone in SPTC's
development as all 30 trainees from the pioneer
intake of 2013 graduated in August 2014 and
were awarded the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM)
Level 3 by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK).
The second batch of 26 trainees started on the 1
year programme in Oil Palm Plantation Operation
and Supervision (Operasi dan Penyeliaan Penanaman
Kelapa Sawit) in July 2014.
